LP38855 - 1.5A Fast-Response High-Accuracy LDO Linear Regulator with Enable

National Semiconductor 2008/12/04 09:21

General Description
The LP38855 is a high-current, fast-response regulator which can maintain output voltage regulation with an extremely low input to output voltage drop. Fabricated on a CMOS process,
the device operates from two input voltages: VBIAS provides power for the internal bias and control circuits, as well as drive for the gate of the N-MOS power transistor, while VIN supplies
power to the load. The use of an external bias rail allows the part to operate from ultra low VIN voltages. Unlike bipolar regulators, the CMOS architecture consumes extremely low quiescent
current at any output load current. The use of an NMOS power transistor results in wide bandwidth, yet minimum external capacitance is required to maintain loop stability.
The fast transient response of this device makes it suitable for use in powering DSP, Microcontroller Core voltages and Switch Mode Power Supply post regulators. The LP38855 is
available in TO-220 and TO-263 5-Lead packages.

LM2738 - 550kHz/1.6MHz 1.5A Step-Down DC-DC Switching Regulator

National Semiconductor 2008/06/20 09:55

General Description
The LM2738 regulator is a monolithic, high frequency, PWM step-down DC/DC converter in an 8-pin LLP or 8-pin eMSOP package.
It provides all the active functions for local DC/DC conversion with fast transient response and accurate regulation in the smallest possible PCB area.
With a minimum of external components, the LM2738 is easy to use.
The ability to drive 1.5A loads with an internal 250mΩ NMOS switch using state-of-the-art 0.5μm BiCMOS technology results in the best power density available.
Switching frequency is internally set to 550kHz (LM2738Y) or 1.6MHz (LM2738X), allowing the use of extremely small surface mount inductors and chip capacitors.
Even though the operating frequencies are very high, efficiencies up to 90% are easy to achieve.
External enable is included, featuring an ultra-low stand-by current of 400nA.
The LM2738 utilizes current-mode control and internal compensation to provide highperformance regulation over a wide range of operating conditions.
Additional features include internal soft-start circuitry to reduce in-rush current, cycle-by-cycle current limit, thermal shutdown, and output over-voltage protection.

UPD16803 - MONOLITHIC DUAL H BRIDGE DRIVER CIRCUIT

National Semiconductor 2008/04/11 09:41

DESCRIPTION
The UPD16803 is a monolithic dual H bridge driver circuit which uses N-channel power MOS FETs in its driver stage.
By employing the power MOS FETs for the output stage, this driver circuit has a substantially improved saturation voltage and power consumption as compared with conventional driver circuits that use bipolar transistors.
In addition, the drive current can be adjusted by an external resistor in a power-saving mode.
The UPD16803 is therefore ideal as the driver circuit of the 2-phase excitation, bipolar-driven stepping motor for the head actuator of an FDD.

FEATURES
• Low ON resistance (sum of ON resistors of top and bottom transistors)
- RON1 = 1.5 W TYP. (VM = 5.0 V)
- RON2 = 2.0 W TYP. (VM = 12.0 V)
• Low current consumption: IDD = 0.4 mA TYP.
• Stop mode function that turns OFF all output transistors
• Compact surface mount package: 20-pin plastic SOP (300 mil)

ADC12L030 - 3.3V Self-Calibrating 12-Bit Plus Sign Serial I/O A/D Converters with MUX and Sample/Hold

National Semiconductor 2008/03/10 10:57

General Description
NOTE: These products are now obsolete. The ADC12L030 family is 12-bit plus sign successive approximation A/D converters with serial I/O and configurable input multiplexers. These devices are fully tested with a single 3.3V power supply. The ADC12L032, ADC12L034 and
ADC12L038 have 2, 4 and 8 channel multiplexers, respectively.
Differential multiplexer outputs and A/D inputs are available at the MUXOUT1, MUXOUT2, A/DIN1 and A/DIN2 pins. The ADC12L030 has a two channel multiplexer with the multiplexer outputs and A/D inputs internally connected. On request, these A/Ds go through a self calibration process that adjusts linearity, zero and full-scale errors to less than ±1⁄2 LSB each.
The analog inputs can be configured to operate in various combinations of single-ended, differential, or pseudodifferential modes. A fully differential unipolar analog input range (0V to +3.3V) can be accommodated with a single +3.3V supply. In the differential modes, valid outputs are obtained even when the negative inputs are greater than the positive because of the 12-bit plus sign two’s compliment output data format.
The serial I/O is configured to comply with NSC’s MICROWIRE™ and Motorola’s SPI standards. For voltage references, see the LM4040, LM4050 or LM4041 data sheets.
The ADC12L032 and the ADC12L034 are not recommended for new designs and are presented for reference only.
